APC suit collection (available at MonSuits!)

APC is known for its clean-cut and minimalist nature, as well as simple, chic, and modern design, with military over-tones. The brand makes great use of denim and high quality fabrics, while for the most part steering clear of the widespread overuse of leather in upscale design. The quality of Touitou’s fabric are matched by a similar dedication to ensuring his designs fit appropriately, which at the outset of his career, was a rebellion against the loose-fitting clothes of his contemporaries.
The A.P.C. suit collection showcases how the French label and designer Jean Touitou have evolved since the label first began.
LIGNE COSTUME A.P.C. their style and the way they are made recalls the early seventies. We offer two different jackets depending on the thread used for the fabric. Special care was given to the inner details and to the way they were made. Two fabrics are used specially for this line: a dashing black and navy blue woollen cloth, and a classical cloudy flannel. A new more formal shirt is also to be found, and it comes in a choice of different fabrics, including a unique poplin that was made in France.

What suit for you?

Big Size Solutions

You’re best bet to looking slimmer is to wear a structured jacket that will give you shape. Look for longer lapels so it’s a V neck, which again emphasizes the vertical lines of your body.

Petite Size Solutions

Shorter men should wear darker colors, and keep the color fairly consistant from the top to the bottom. This will give you a longer look. Long, narrow lapels will flatter a short man because it creates the illusion of height. Also pants with flat fronts that slightly taper.

When it comes to the shirt, look for long pointy collars. Vertical stripes also give you stature. Make sure your tie knot is not the large bulbous, Windsor, keep it small and keep your tie fairly narrow.

Tall Size Solutions

When you’re tall you want to break up the vertical lines by contrasting color on your top and your bottom. Also you can wear plads and patterns very well, again to break up that long, tall, vertical line.
Shirts with wider colors are flattering as are wider ties and ties with larger knots.

How I Met Your Mother - Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit

Etymology of the word Suit

The current styles were founded in the revolution during the early seventeenth century that sharply changed the elaborately embroidered and jewelled formal clothing into the simpler clothing of the British Regencyperiod, which gradually evolved to the stark formality of the Victorian era. It was in the search for more comfort that the loosening of rules gave rise in the late nineteenth century to the modern lounge suit.

The word suit derives from the French suite, meaning “following”, from some Late Latin derivative form of the Latin verb sequor = “I follow”, because the component garments (jacket and trousers and waistcoat) follow each other and have the same cloth and colour and are worn together.

As a suit (in this sense) covers all or most of the wearer’s body, the term “suit” was extended to a single garment that covers all or most of the body, such as boilersuits and diving suits and spacesuits
